KET under British rule
Kumar Ekanayake Trio (KET) is a popular outfit in the local showbiz. The trio has been in the scene from 1991 and during that period the group got many popular hits to their credit.

'Senehelatha', 'Dilana Tharakavi', 'Nano' and 'Podaakkata' are some of the popular hits of Kumara. KET will be in UK for their latest album launched
'I have been in the field of the entertainment since 1989, now almost 17 years and the past 15 years in my career as a three-piece band.

KET comprises Kumara on keyboards, Thushara Peiris on guitar and Stephny on vocals. 'We were playing for the hotels as well as for private functions, mainly for weddings, parties and gigs. But since our first CD in 2002, we have to skip all permanent hotel dates. Mainly because of the concerts and shows in and outside of Colombo' Kumara explained.

The title track of their maiden CD 'Senehelatha' was a hit overnight.
'Since then 'KET' had no dates for contracts. We started performing all over the country' he said

I composed this song 'Senehelatha' especially for the youth who would like to dance. The songs from their third album 'Katapoddak', which was released last year, too are popular among fans.

'Most of those songs have become popular. I have included remixed of 'Senehelatha' song on this CD.' Kumara said. All these songs could listen on radio channels and four video clips for 'Podakkata', 'Nano', and 'Senehelatha' and for 'Dilena Tharakavee' is now on television too.

Kumara Ekanayake Trio was in UK last year performing few dances and series of concerts, where they met Charmine Millington. 'After this UK tour, I have decided to change my style of music. Actually my fans wanted me to work on different style' he said.

Charmaine Millington is a Sri Lankan living in United Kingdom over twenty years who is writing lyrics for many Sri Lankan artistes living in UK. 'Charmaine have written sixteen songs for my new CD. All with different styles. She has written one song about her daughter Sharda and wanted my wife Stephny to sing this song. We have already did two songs of this CD for TV Channels' he said
Charmaine was in Sri Lanka last year on a short vacation. She had recorded most of the songs with KET and her main idea is to do a Concert in UK with KET and other artistes.

Music for most of the songs on this new CD has composed by Kumara and Charmaine. 'We will be in UK for one month for this purpose and hope to do some video clips' he said.

'After writing seventeen songs for Kumara Ekanayak's CD I though I must do this in future for the others too, it gives me greater pleasure that I have done something to the nature' said Charmaine.

'When I was sixteen years I had to leave my motherland, and after completing my studies I married Dr. Karl Millington, but every year I visit to parents. Whenever I visit my country I used to buy new release of Sri Lankan's original songs selections' she explained.

‘After I met Kumara Ekanayake and Stephny, I requested him to do a classical songs for the people who like to listen songs to relax the mind, and Stphney offer me to write songs for their next CD, and I had written two or three songs long before this but I never thought that I can do it like this. But in months time I completed seventeen songs for their new CD' Charmaine explained the new beginning.

Kumara Ekanayake will be in London during the month of February for the launch of their new album . KET will be back in April for Sinhala New Year for their usual gigs in Nuwara Eliya and other places.
