Congrats from Indian PM
The Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was yesterday among the first to congratulate President Mahinda Rajapakse on his victory at Thursday’s elections.

“I write to convey warmest congratulations on behalf of the Government and the people of India on your election as the President of Sri Lanka”, his message said.

“I am confident that under your able leadership our two countries will continue to work together in the spirit of cooperation and good neighbourliness that characterizes our bilateral relations, to promote even closer friendship and understanding. I look forward to working with Your Excellency towards the fulfilment of this goal”, the message said.

He said he was looking forward to meeting President Rajapakse at an early mutually convenient opportunity.
