CBK says media blowing up dispute with PM
President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga declared last Tuesday she had no quarrel with her Party’s Presidential candidate and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse.

She blamed The Sunday Times for publishing a picture last week showing tense moments between her and Premier Rajapakse.

Addressing a public rally in Ratnapura on Wednesday, she said she was fully supportive of Mahinda Rajapakse who was contesting as the presidential candidate and added she was appealing to the people to give all assistance to the Prime Minister.

“English papers are carrying various lies. When we come to the stage and sit they publish some picture and say that we are quarrelling. They tell all types of lies. Even The Sunday Times has carried something and I sent a reply to them. I have no time to waste explaining this to you..,” she said.
