Raigama to award teledrama artistes
The directors and producers of nearly sixty teledramas, telecast over the year 2004 are to submit their dramas for the first Raigam Tele Award-2004.
With the intention of recognising the talent in the teledrama field, 'The Kingdom of Raigam' has organized this award ceremony. The Raigam Tele Award-2004 is scheduled to be held on December 8, 2005 at the BMICH.

The awards will be given under the categories; Best Teledrama, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best Screenplay writer, Best Cameraman, Best Editor, Best Art Director, Best Make-up artiste, Best Music Director, Best Lyricist, Best song and the Best one episodic teledrama.

Chosen from the teledrama viewers' votes Raigam will select the most popular actor and actress for the year and special merit awards will be given to artistes who had made important contribution to the teledrama field. The artistes to be honoured would be selected by a jury.

The Kingdom of Raigam have invited all the television channels (except cable and paid channels) to forward the teledramas that were telecast from January 1 to December 31, 2004 in their respective channels. The teledramas that are eligible for the competition should be of less than 50 episodes and must be locally produced.

The teledramas made in other countries and dubbed to the Sinhala language and cartoon and films are not entitled for the competition. The final date to submit the dramas with VHS or CD copies is August 30. The initial selection of twenty teledramas will be done by an independent jury and final judgment delivered by a jury comprising five experts from different artistic fields.

The Raigam Tele Awards-2004 also has included a competition for viewers to select the first best three teledramas in order. The first 53 viewers who submit the correct order will be presented with gifts including three television sets and 50 rice cookers.
