Police on poster vigil for PM
Police were last night directed to deploy a special patrol between Galle and Matara to ensure that no posters are put up against Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse ahead of a proposed visit by Norwegian deputy Foreign Minister, Vidar Helgesen to Matara today.

The directive was officially given by DIG Neville Wijesinghe following reports that the UNP was planning to put up posters about the abuse of funds for tsunami victims. Police confirmed that they were maintaining a night vigil to prevent posters from coming up.

They said they had been informed that posters claiming that the prime minister had misused the tsunami funds were to be put up. Mr. Helgesen is due to visit a Norwegian-funded school construction project in Matara for tsunami victims.
