The overall objective of The Sunshine Charity will be to address both short term and long term needs of ALL Sri Lankan children.Among the short term needs, immediate relief was provided at 7 camps for people affected by the Indian Ocean tsunami. Three of these camps were located in the southern district, three in the north-eastern district and one in the western province of Sri Lanka. In this effort, children of all three ethnic communities were considered.

The Sunshine Charity strongly believes that the needs of children are the same and will therefore give equal consideration to children whether they are affected by natural disaster (tsunami) or man-made disaster (ethnic conflict).
'The Sunshine Charity will consider the needs of Sri Lankan children whichever ethnic community they come from. All Sri Lankan children have the right to be protected.

The Sunshine Charity will therefore take an equitable approach to the needs of children.' said a spokesman from the Charity.
