Tourist arrivals up: Finance Ministry
Tourist arrivals in the country from January to May, 2005 grew by 8.1 per cent totalling 208,389, despite the December 26 tsunami, the Finance Ministry said.

In May alone, tourists arrivals grew by 35.5 per cent to stand at 40,878, according to the mid-year fiscal position report of 2005. This indicates an eight per cent growth in total tourist earnings during the first five months of 2005, it said.
