Muslims professionals lament non-inclusion in P-TOMS
The Eastern Muslim Professional’s Assembly (EMPA) through a media release condemned the government and others for not incorporating the Muslims as a separate signatory to the P-TOMS agreement.

The Assembly stated that even though the Government, the LTTE and the international community were fully aware that the Muslim community was the most affected by the tsunami, due importance had not been given to them. It was cited as a grave injustice to them.

EMPA president S.L.M. Halith stated that even though Muslim Ministers and Parliamentarians firmly stated that the UPFA would not let the Muslims down and the President had a moral obligation to give priority, the Muslims felt that they had been betrayed.
