‘Underworld’ replaces ‘Gangs’
The Gangs of New York , which was scheduled to be screened at Majestic Cinema, Colombo was postponed as the film had to go before the Censor Board.

To fill the gap the CEL, the film importers will screen another action packed adventure “Underworld” directed by Len Wisemen. The film starring Gary Nighy, Kate Bechinsale, Michael Sheen and Scott Speedman will be screening most probably for two weeks until ‘Gangs of New York’ gets it clearance from the Censor.

The film “Underworld” re-imagines Vampires as a secretive clan of moden, aristocratic sophisticates whose mortal enemies are the Lycans (werewolves), a shrewd gang of street thugs who prowl the city’s underbelly.

The balance of power is upset when a beautiful young Vampire and a nascent Lycan deadly rivals for centuries, fall in love. A fast-paced, modern-day tale of deadly action, ruthless intrigue and forbidden love, all set against the backdrop of an ancient feud between the two tribes in a timeless, Gothic metropolis.

The film released in 2003 is produced by Gary Lucchesi, Richard S. Wright and Tom Rosenberg. The film which will be shown for a limited engagement will be followed the Gangs of New York, Martin Scorsese’s epic film of early America.
