Green Banks : Hideout by the lagoon

Blue sea and golden beaches are always connected with the name Negombo. Travellers from all corners of the world visit Negombo to enjoy the fun of sun and sand. But very few know that, there are lot more Negombo can offer, than sea and the beach.

Lagoon plays a major part in the travel industry in the area.‘Green Banks’ is not a well-known bungalow, but is an exclusive holiday location on the banks of Negombo lagoon at Madangasthuduwa in Dungalpitiya, sandwiching between the deep blue sea and the beautiful lagoon.

The operation started last October for Green Bank, which can be reached from Uswetakeiyawa/ Pamunugama road. It is just 45 minutes drive from Colombo but the environmental different is just seems like hundred mile from the hustle and bustle of the City.‘The bungalow has four tastefully designed lagoon view rooms with all modern facilities.

Only the master bedroom is fitted with A/C. But other rooms are equally comfortable. They have large comfortable beds, well-equipped bathrooms, and mainly the peaceful and quiet surrounding’ said Krishan Fernando, the proprietor of the place.‘Green Banks’ is honeymooners paradise and is an ideal haven for workaholics in Colombo.

‘It is also an ideal family holiday bungalow not very far from the city. We provide various excursions to different places close by’ He said. Boat safaris to Muthurajawela , water sports activities in Negombo lagoon are some of the attractions.

Green Banks is a paradise for bird watchers. There are number of migrant and other birds can be spotted in and around this 28 km wide lagoon ‘We generally let out the whole bungalow for Rs. 4000/- per day.

There is a cook and he will be dishing out the Green Banks menu for very nominal rate. Other than for a honeymoon couple we do not sell individual rooms.
