Four leggeds get better attention
Amidst all the different bodies that have come into being after the tsunami, the latest is the 'Tsunami Memorial Animal Welfare Trust' which is seeking an alternative way to manage the stray animal population without resorting to killing them.

The Trust will conduct a spay/neuter and vaccination clinic which will commence on Monday from 9 a.m under the auspices of the Colombo Municipal Council, at the residence of the Mayor.

When there are so many protests being launched by human tsunami victims, it is good to see that at least animals getting more consideration.

Top man to go?
The President had ordered that Deputy Director General (News and Current Affairs) of the national television station be sacked immediately after the recent shuffle in powers at the Media Ministry.

But instead of being sacked, he has been transferred to another sister channel, which already has a DGM. Now it seems the top man himself will have to go for disobeying orders.

No queue jump here
A deputy minister recently came to have lunch at a fast food outlet in Colombo with his wife and daughter. But he was not alone. His entourage of bodyguards came as well. And they were helpful in a sense. They took turns standing in the long queue that people had to wait in to get their food. And this was one queue they could not jump.
