King Gothabhaya addressed the young monks thus, “Stop
discussing. You have to stop the practice of these new precepts.
Instead, follow the principles so far followed by monks. This
is my final request”. The monks did not obey the king.

Sinharaja

Dark,
wet, mysterious and thick with vegetation, situated in the southwest
lowland Wet Zone, Sinharaja is the last patch of sizeable lowland
evergreen rain forest still remaining more or less intact or
undisturbed in the island.

this a meaningful Independence?
We celebrate our 57th Independence this year and it is good to
take a hard look at what we have really achieved and what we are
yet to achieve in the post-Independence period.
