HNB launches ‘one-pass system’ on cheques
Hatton National Bank (HNB) last week signed an agreement with Enhanced Processing Technologies (EPT) Australia to implement "Cheque Processing Solution” (CPS).

This system called the 'One-Pass System' enables HNB to lead the way into the latest banking developments and shorten processing time by electronically imaging and truncating cheques for clearance, officials said.

R. Theagarajah, CEO/General Manager, HNB speaking at the agreement-signing ceremony said that the partnership with EPT, Australia's largest banking group, is an important one. He said that this process would deliver some value added solutions with processing efficiency leading to ultimate customer benefits and productivity. He said that while customers have the opportunity of speedy clearance, they would also have access to electronic copies of their cheques.

The Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd (ANZ) implemented the EPT's One Pass System in 2001. ANZ is one of Australia's largest banks with an asset base of AU$ 183 billion operating through more than 1000 branches throughout Australia.

Charles Dunn, CEO, EPT said the "One Pass System" has been in operation for the last 10 years and have chosen to build on the system and the knowledge they have gained in the past decade to deliver the ANZ solutions.
