United Artistes sing for tsunami victims

The United Singers of Sri Lanka featuring more than sixty popular singers from the Lankan Sinhala, English and Tamil Music scenes, released their tsunami song ‘The Waves That Hit Our Land’ last week.‘The Waves That Hit Our Land’ is a song sung in all three languages by nearly sixty five artistes.

This will be Sri Lanka’s very first mini CD, which comprises four songs . English track ‘The Waves That Hit Our Land’ and Sinhala track ‘Rala Pahara’ along with the Tamil song are sung by popular artistes the fourth track will be the karaoke track.

The Sinhala and English songs voiced by 31 singers each and the Tamil song are voiced by 12 singers. ‘The Waves That Hit Our Land’ is voiced by Desmond de Silva, Dalreen, Luke Henricus, Sunil and Piyal, Noel Ranasinghe, Lankika, Mariazele, Donald of Mirage and Rajitha of Misty, Tyronne Peiris, Kevin and Corrine Almeida, Yasmin, Damian of Purple Rain fame, Maxi Rozairo, Natasha Fernando of Dream Team fame, Rajiv Sebastian, Sohan Weerasinghe, Gavin Chris Dason, Noeline, Rukshan Perera, Eranga, Nimal Jayamanne, Judy and Kanthi de Silva, Aubrey and An tionett ede Alwis.

Sinhala song Rala Pahara is voiced by Ivor Dennis, Natasha Perera, Desmond de Silva, Noel, Annesley Malawana, Anil Bharathi, Rajiv Sebastian, Indrani Perera, Lalith Ponnamperuma, Susil Fernando, Priya Suriyasena, Neela Wickremasinghe, Ranil Mallawarachchci, Menik Chandrika, Walter Fernando, Chandani Hettiarachchi, Nanda Malani, Latha Walpola, Vernon Perera, Sohan Weerasinghe, Rookantha and Chandralekha Perera, Athula and Samitha, Sunil and Piyal, Saman de Silva, Corrine, Dayan Vithana and Nelu Adikari.

Sridaran Pichchi Appa, Mahinda Kumar, K. Kanjeevani, Kanapathi Pillai, Suriyakumar Muthalage, Tony Hassan, Kalawathi and other voiced the Tamil Song.

Rajiv has penned the lyrics and music arrangement for ‘Rala Pahara’ and ‘The Waves That Hit Our Land’, while Sohan translated it into English. Rajiv and The Clan provided music for all three songs. The project is co sponsored by Torana Music.

The proceeds from this project will be channelled towards rebuilding all damaged religious places.‘All musicians , singers , technicians, cover designers , printers, artists, photographers rendered their service free of charge. We have spent only the CD production cost in Singapore. We hope the music fans too contribute towards this worthy cause’ said Rajiv.
