One nation: One Sri Lanka
The youth in Colombo intend to organise a walk “One Nation: One Sri Lanka,” to show the world that Sri Lankans are united in their efforts towards a better future.

The organisers of this event are the same as those who held the “Light a candle for those in need” project on December 31, 2004 at the Colombo University grounds. They are, the youth living in Colombo who have come together from various schools, institutes, universities and NGOs.

All youth and organisations, willing to support are invited to join in. This event is being supported by several Sri Lankan artistes and NGO’s, who have come forward to pledge their services in different ways.

The walk will begin from Hyde Park, Colombo 02 at 8.00am on February 5, 2005. The turnout is expected to be over 10,000. Contributions will be collected through the sale of badges for the walk and car stickers, which will be the official sale items. Sponsorship of banners is available and individual donations will be welcome.

The proceeds of the walk will be utilised to provide opportunities for those affected to restart their lives. This will be achieved by providing them some means of living so that they would be able to come out of their economic downfall and help the society they live in. This effort will be co-ordinated with the assistance of the government authorities that have already been working closely with the organisers.
