Lankan soaps to Hongkong, Japan

Pharmco Marketing has invested Rs. 35 million in a new manufacturing plant at Wattala to manufacture toilet soap and in addition to domestic demand, exports its popular Zidal soap.

"The plant is complete with state of the art technology and machinery and also includes an in-house laboratory," says S. Shivaraj, Managing Director of Pharmco Marketing. Some 120 metric tonnes of soap are produced daily at the new plant.

With the opening of the new plant, Pharmco Marketing relaunched its Zinal soap range, offering specific skin care benefits. The Zinal Range now comes in four fragrances - venivel, almond oil, komarika and rose, and is now available with distributors island wide.

The company exports to Hong Kong, India and Japan and is in the process of getting ISO 9001 Certification.

The company was established in 1997 and has been rated as one of the most successful Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) marketers in Sri Lanka. Raj Ashirwatham, Brand Manager of Pharmco said the company's monthly revenue is Rs 16-20 million a month.

Pharmco imports and distributes consumer products from India, include Moov ointment and spray, Moov pain reliever, Krack cream, Borosoft antiseptic cream, Borosoft hand and body lotion, Livon hair fluid and Pavithra.

The subsidiary company Pharmco Industries locally manufacturers and distributes the Zinal soap range, D'cold cough drops and Singha balm.
