Thunder
and lightning followed by heavy rain forced President
Chandrika Kumaratunga to abandon her speech at one
of the main events held in Gampaha to mark the 10th
anniversary of her presidency. The picture above shows
her ardent supporters braving the angry weather gods
while the other picture shows the President with Ministers
Anura Bandaranaike and Pavithra Wanniarachchi at seth
pirith though obviously detracted by the thunderstorms.
