Opposition to chair committees
Opposition members are to chair two of the most important Parliamentary committees, the Committee on Public Accounts (CPA) and the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE).

According to an agreement between the government and the Opposition, SLMC leader Rauff Hakeem will head the Public Accounts Committee while John Amaratunga will be chairman of COPE, Opposition sources said.

The Committee on Privileges will be headed by another Opposition member, the Jathika Hela Urumaya Colombo district parliamentarian Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera, while the rest will be chaired by government Ministers.
