‘Vihanga Geethaya’: A tale of triangular love

Vihanga Geethaya (The Warbling) telecast every Thursday at 8.15 pm belt on ITN is a tale on a complex triangular love story. Directed by Ajith Lokuge to a script of Indika Ferdinando the teledrama is produced by Sandhya Mendis for Susila productions.

The mian characters are played by Channa Perera, Yashodha Wimaladharma, Pragith Ratnayake, Chamila Pieris, Iranganie Serasinghe, Maureen Charuni, Somasiri Alakolanga, Ratnalalani Jayakody and child actors Dilan Wijeratne and Anurasha Jayawardena.

The story revolves around a divorcee and his child and a young woman who is engaged to be married joining the company of father and son and events that take place after that. Bhatiya an executive in an advertising firm is separated after his short-lived married life. He lives with his nine year old son, Malith. Taken ill after a cricket match at school, Malith is taken to the hospital.

With admission to the hospital Bhatiya finds himself helpless as he cannot find a woman to stay at his son’s bedside. Kavya, a young nurse in the hospital comes to his rescue here and she looks after the child. Being with Kavya, Malith develops a close relationship with her and the child who lives bereft of mother’s love could not give up the affection for this young woman even after he leaves the hospital.

And this affects Kavya too as she finds it difficult to get away from Malith. Meanwhile a close relationship is developed between Kavya and Bhatiya too. But Kavya is due to get married to Janaka, the eldest son of her father’s business partner in a few days. As Kavya’s marriage draws nearer the relationship of Bhatiya, Kavya and Malith becomes inseparable. But Kavya cannot turn her back on Janaka, as their marriage had been arranged by the fathers of the two families, while they were still young.

What would be the result of this triangular love story? Swinging between Bhatiya and Janaka who will Kavya choose? What would happen to little Malith?
