Novelist turns director with ‘Gini Kirilli’
Sarath Dharmasiri having written the novel ‘Bogala Saudaris’, which later was made into a tele film came to be a film director later after handling the film ‘Ginin Kirilli’.

Set in a remote dry zone village, Gini Kirilli depicts the life of a girl who is the victim of male chauvinism and supported by the present legal and judicial system.

Gini Kirilli revolves around the life of a young girl Kavi Amma played by Jayani Senanayake who is being abused by a married man in the village. He is arrested brought before court. The girl has to make regular visits to town to get justice done for her. The policeman, Jayalath who handles the case misuses her. At the same time she becomes a victim of the lawyer’s clerk who appears for her. Meanwhile she starts an affair with the conductor of the bus in which she goes to the city.

The girl gets pregnant and all the men who used and misused her abandon her like a can of trash. The policeman gets away by accusing her and the clerk says that he was impotent while the conductor runs away from the area. She goes back to her first exploiter.

Gini Kirilli, stars Jayalath Manoratne, Jayani Senanayake, Cyril Wickremage, Athula Liyanage, Grace Ariyawimal, Suminda Sirisena, Meena Kumari, Helen Sylvester, Maureen Charuni and child actress Dulanjali Perera.
