British HC limits visa services on July 20, 21
The British High Commission in Colombo would be limiting its visa services on July 20 and 21.

It cited operational reasons for this temporary restriction. The High Commission said it will only accept applications considered by the visa section to be emergency cases.

Rebel JHU monk given ultimatum

The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) is to sack its rebel monk Gampaha District Parliamentarian Ven. Aparekke Punyananda Thera if he does not appear before the party by tomorrow, party sources said.

They said a disciplinary committee of the party had completed inquiries on 20 charges against the monk, including violations of the party constitution and defamation of the party.

They said the monk was denying all the charges but did not appear before the committee when summoned last Wednesday.
