Dengue rages to all-time high

The Dengue epidemic has hit an all time high prompting the government to launch an all-out national eradication campaign from Friday under the direction of the Prime Minister.

Health Ministry epidemiologist Nihal Abeysinghe, said the number of dengue cases had reached an all-time record of 8000 with 54 deaths.

CMC’s Chief medical officer Pradeep Kariyawasam said the number of cases in the city had reached an all-time high of 760 with the disease spreading to new areas.

One of the latest victims of Dengue was a student of Vishaka Vidyalya Colombo.
