‘Maya Mansala’: A mystery drama
‘Maya Mansala’ revolves around an unfortunate incident that a couple experiences on their wedding day which haunts the rest of their marriage life is telecast every Monday at 7.30 pm belt on National Rupavahini. Both screenplay and direction are by Sanjeewa Alwis.

The miniplay is played by Kanchana Mendis, Rangana Premaratne, Janaka Kumbukge, Chandra Kaluarachchi, Meena Kumari, Susantha Chandramalee, Ajith Lokuge, Gihan Fernando, Srinath Maddumage, Edward Gunawardena and Nilantha Fernando.

The drama begins with Kalhara and Wenuri hailing from upper-middle class family background leaving on their honeymoon to upcountry. Kalhara drives in bad weather. The vehicle driven under heavy rain and mist suddenly knocks against something and the couple realizes they have knocked down a man. Later the couple finds him lying unconscious. They flee the scene believing that no one had seen them.

But a waiter named Lionel working in a guesthouse finds the unconscious body and informs the police but he is unable to identify the couple that left the scene. He overhears a conversation between a couple that had come to stay at the guesthouse which confirms his doubt.

The victim is Jayanethi, a clerk going through difficult times now disabled and without a job. Lionel collects information about Jayanethi secretly and comes to the town searching for the couple.

Meanwhile Kalhara finds himself disturbed over what happened. Lionel speaks to Kalhara about a third party having seen the accident and tries to blackmail him. Wenuri’s dreams of a happy marranged life are shattered, therefore. Many unexpected situations are bound to arise under the circumstances.
