Security outnumbers people
Who is visiting whom, seemed to be the question, when President
Chandrika Kumaratunga visited the East on Friday on a 'people's
visit' and found the handful of people present to greet her greatly
outnumbered by the Presidential security personnel, the military
and the police who were guarding the President!
Dengue
or principals?
The CMC officials who are touring the town these days educating
people on the prevention of dengue, have decided that silence and
education go hand in hand, in the exclusively Sri Lankan context,
of course. None of the CMC officials who visited the Colombo schools
were keen to take action against the principals of the schools with
likely dengue mosquito-breeding surroundings. Why? Because their
children had to be admitted to schools and school principals make
bad enemies - as revealed by a leading health official.
