‘Aththamma’ comes for New Year on Rupavahini
“Aththamma” one episode miniplay, a New Year gift from Teledrama Unit of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation will be telecast on April 12 at 7.00pm. The drama revolves around a couple who had no idea of what their child wanted.

Wikumsiri and Sherin are a young couple with an urban middle class mentality and who have given priority to money and social status. Their only son Dumindu is longing to go to his Aththamma who lives in the village. Wikumsiri and Sherin promise Dumindu to take him to her for the New Year.

But Wikumsiri’s sudden decision to organise a party for his friends shatter all the dreams of the child. What would be the outcome of the parents’ decision ignoring their child’s dream?

Nilmini Tennakoon and Jayalal Rohana play the lead roles while child actor Rasika Liyanage is introduced to the mini screen. Giriraj Kaushalya, Sarath Kothalawela and Wasanthi Ranwala have roles in ‘Aththamma’.

Screenplay was written by Rasika Suraweeraarachchi, Ajith Balangoda was cameraman, lighting were by Somaratne Perera and Chandralal De Silva joins as make up artiste in this one episodic play. Santhusa Liyanage directed the drama.
