JVP eyes top posts in Defence, Media and Finance
The JVP is to play a key role in the appointment of secretaries to ministries, heads of corporations and other top posts if a UPFA government is elected to office, The Sunday Times learns.

According to a third memorandum of understanding which has still not been made public, a committee comprising SLFP and JVP leaders will review the work of the top officials and recommend disciplinary action when necessary. According to party sources, the JVP has expressed particular interest in the appointments of secretaries to the key ministries of Defence, Finance and Media.

The Sunday Times learns that a committee headed by Presidential Adviser Mano Tittawella is now drawing up a list of nominees for top posts. This list will be reviewed by a team comprising SLFP and JVP leaders.

According to the third MoU, titled “Power-sharing document”, Alliance decisions should be taken with both the SLFP and the JVP agreeing. Details about the future Cabinet are also included in the document.
