Candidate killing: UNF seeks probe
The UNF has complained to the Norwegian embassy and the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission over the killing of its candidate in Batticaloa and called for a full probe.

A police report and other documents on the killing of candidate S. Sundarampillai were submitted by the UNF on Friday to the Norwegians and the SLMM. The party has said that the killing – widely blamed on the LTTE – should be fully investigated.

UNP Chairman Malik Samarawickrama on Friday discussed the security issue with party candidates from the eastern province.
