‘Diya Yata Gindara’ released
Udayakantha Warnasuruya’s latest film “Diya Yata Gindara” will be released at the Regal, Lido and 14 other CEL circuit cinemas from March 4. Based on a true incident that had taken place in 2002 the film depicts story of a husband and a wife who start an ingenious insurance scam with the help of some unscrupulous elements.

With the cast Udayakantha has brought back some of the faces that have been missing from both the silver screen and the mini screen for a long time. Achala Alles plays opposite Sanath Gunathilaka on the wide screen for the first time. Veteran actor Amarasiri Kalansuriya returns to the silver screen playing one of the lead roles after a lapse of seventeen years. Others in the long cast include veteran actor Tony Ransinghe, Nirosha Herath, Srimal Sathyajith Wedisinghe, Srinath Maddumage, Janesh Silva, Tyronne Michael and the film introduces child actors Sahan Warnasuriya, Malithi de Alwis, Pasan Ranaweera and Sanduni Warnasuriya.

The technical crew includes Stanley de Alwis as the editor and K. D. Dayananda as cinematographer. Sangeeth Wickremasinghe who writes the musical score is doing his first film. Story, script, dialogue and screenplay are by Udayakantha himself.

The eighth direction of Udayakantha marks the entry of Cinema Entertainment Limited (CEL), which is the banner organization of three film importers, Ceylon Theatres, Ceylon Entertainment and Cinemas Limited, to the Sri Lankan film scene as a producer.
