Sherman: Singing chef
By Poorna Rodrigo
For Sherman, life has always been a roller coaster ride between being a musician and a chef. Just as much as he loves music so are ambitions about excelling as a chef.

Don Sherman, now a household name in the music industry has a story of his own to say which goes as way back in when he was just a student. He was performing in a band that he formed with his school friends until he got an offer from another band. Sherman joined the second band and the friends dispersed.

After being there for some time, life was becoming hectic for him with no time to concentrate on cooking. “So I left the band and took up a job at Air Lanka Caterers”. There he completed a diploma in culinary arts and he is today a active member of Chefs Guild of Sri Lanka.

Is he really good at cooking? “Ask my wife”, he said adding that he enjoys cooking as much as he loves singing. But then again Sherman was never the type who could give up music altogether for the sake of his job. He made a come back to the industry with a determination to make a name in the field.

With a style of dancing that is unique to him Sherman says that he never practices before a show. “Once on stage, I just do it the way I want”, he said. Sherman released his maiden audio CD called “Man Hodai” recently which includes some of the songs composed by himself.

However for a young guy like Sherman there are many plans in store. Much work to do in both his pet areas and lot to achieve. But he didn’t want to elaborate too much on that. “You will all see that in due course”, he added.
