‘Diya Sithuwam’: Story of a painter
‘Diya Sithuwam’ depicts a story of girl who has taken up painting as her profession. Starting from January 15 on Rupavahini, teledrama unfolds the story of this girl painter on every Thursday at 8.35 pm.

The main roles are played by Roshan Pilapitiya, Indika Upamali, Sanath Wimalasiri, Rebecca Nirmalee, Muri Samarasinghe and many others. Nimesha a painter resides at a house belonging to a friend of her sister in Kandy. Painting pictures of Dalada Maligaya and selling them to a tourist hotel is her profession. Making a small living from this Nimesha runs a simple life.

Nimesha meets Ravindu a university student one day and they become lovers later. The couple one day make a visit to Nimesha’s sister, a nun to tell about their affair. On their way Ravindu meets with an accident and decides to live with one of his friends, Kolitha until he gets cured.

Having seeing Nimesha who comes to see Ravindu, Kolitha gets interested in her. One day Kolitha makes and attempt to abduct Nimesha and he fails. The girl manages to escape from Kolitha but meets with an accident when she is running away from him.

Ravindu waiting for Nimesha hears about the accident and comes to know that Kolitha was responsible for that. Angered with this Ravindu starts a fight with Kolitha.

Kolitha acting in a cunning manner makes a trap to break Ravindu’s affair with Nimesha. He reveals about Ravindu’s visit to an orphanage to see a young mother and a child on every poyaday.

When searched Nimesha realises that there is a truth in what Kolitha says and she gets disheartened. Who is the woman Ravindu meets every poyaday at orphanage and who is the father of her child? What is Ravindu’s background? Would Nimesha be able to find out all these? Directed by Stanley Perera and ‘Diya Sithuwam’ is produced by P. P. A. Gunasena.
