CAA's unannounced checks on trading units
With brisk sales taking place in the market during the festive season, the Consumer Affairs Authority has been advised by the Ministry to step up checks on retail establishments to ensure fair trading. The CAA has mobilised additional field staff for the festive season with strict instructions to take action against traders violating normal trading practices.

According to Mr. Kithsiri Gunewardena, Director-General of CAA, the operation conducted so far has been very successful. "We have severely warned the traders who attempt to mislead the consumers at this time around," he added.
