Seasonal warning
The Police has warned festive shoppers of crafty salesmen in and around Colombo during the season.

Police said with the growing number of people flocking the city, they are bound to get caught to such con men. The Police gave some tips on the modus operandi of some of them. In the guise of being friendly a person may try to sell some drugged food which would make the shopper dizzy. Items such as wrist watches claimed to have been smuggled through the Customs, will be offered for a cheap sum. Once the shopper takes out the money, the seller snatches the money and runs away.

Similarly they would approach a person carrying a lot of packages persuading him to buy their items. Once the person keeps his packages on the ground they run away with the packages. Police has also warned shoppers not to wear expensive jewellery and also not to carry a lot of money and to avoid having meals with unknown persons.
