KIT Challenge plunges into gripping action
The adrenaline- charged KIT Challenge is back and if the first round action on November 16 was anything to go by, this year’s event is tougher, harsher and more ruthless. The twenty teams that took each other on in the first preliminary round on November 16 were in for a challenge of a lifetime. The rugged course each team had to surmount consisted of a series of obstacles that tested mind and matter, guts and spirit.

The first ten teams had to assemble at the crack of dawn for a triathlon and obstacle course. The triathlon included an exhausting jog through demanding terrain - as well as tubing, kayaking and mountain biking. The obstacle course saw teams push themselves to the limit: they clambered over a nine-foot wall and dragged a log though a mud field. They also had to surmount their fear of heights - events such as the 17 foot confidence jump, river crossing on cable and aerial roping were not for the faint hearted. All the participants reflected true sportsmanship and team spirit - picking each other up both physically and morally from start to finish.

The day culminated in gripping mud kabbadi between the teams, which saw competitors repeatedly plummeting into the murky waters of the paddy fields surrounding the Diyawanna. After a day of exhilarating action that tested the teams’ strength, perseverance and stamina, two teams booked their place in the finals – ‘Bows’ emerged winners while ‘The Archons’ were Runners up. The other teams to progress into the final are being selected through the next preliminary rounds worked off on November 23, 30 (today) and on December 7. The finals will move to exotic Bolgoda, where for two days (December 13 - 14) the final ten will embark on the toughest challenges yet. Entrance for spectators is free while the organizers have arranged for food and drink stalls at the location.

The 1st and 2nd runners-up will win the latest camera phones and colour phones, in addition to mobile phone packages from Dialog GSM. The KIT Challenge is presented in collaboration with Wild Holidays.
