Maiden CD from Singing doc. Mahinda
Singing doc. Mahinda Tennekoon will release his maiden CD of Sinhala songs on November 29 at Sausiripaya auditorium at 6.00 p.m. Though this will be doctor Mahinda’s very first CD, he has a couple of audio cassettes to his credit. The new CD “Sanda Tharu” comprises eleven original songs. “Sunila Shantha”, a commemorative song for Sunil Shantha will be a special attraction.

Dr. Tennekoon is highly influenced by Sunil Shantha’s style of music and singing. Most of his songs touch the Sunil Shantha’s style. “Rena Girau”, “Hodi Pothe”, “Tharulatha Mal” are some of the songs included in this CD. The song lyrics were penned by Saman Chandranath Weerasinghe, and Ajantha Ranasinghe.

The launching ceremony of the CD will be a gala musical evening.
“All the songs in the CD will sing at this ceremony and some will be featured with dance items. Dance items will be put together by Daya Jayatunge and Piyasara Silpadhipathi”, he said.

The music will be provided by Ranjith Yapa de Alwis and compered by Kumari Alwis and popular radio personality Bevil Palihawadana. The harmony and choral backing will be by Kusum Subasinghe from London and the students of “Sisira Kumara Munasinghe School of Music.”

Dr. Tennekoon is a qualified medical practitioner, spent most of his life in London. While practicing his profession in Colombo, Dr. Mahinda devotes his entire spare time for music.
