Creating
friction Bobby Friction and Nihal present a dance show on Radio One. The show is a mix of the hottest Asian beats and flavours. They have become one of the most sought after names on the scene and were awarded a Gold Sony award for Best Specialist Radio Show. Bobby Friction
was a resident DJ at the legendary Swaraj at the Blue Note in London,
which showcased new Asian talent and sounds, and the equally renowned
Shaanti in Birmingham, the first Asian club outside London. He has
recorded with the Mercury Music Award nominated Black Star Liner,
and is currently finishing his debut album. Bobby Friction and Nihal will also conduct a workshop for radio DJs on November 26 at MKOP, Taj Samudra Hotel, from 12.30 p.m.-6 p.m. The workshop will concentrate on working with music jingles, presentation skills, programming and scripts, and radio dos and don’ts. Admission is free (limited to 25 participants). Prior registrations will be accepted on a first come first served basis at the British Council’s Arts Office open from 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday. The tour is also being sponsored by SriLankan Airlines, Taj Samudra and Connaissance de Ceylan, Corona, Favourite Ltd. Two
leading British DJs Bobby Friction and Nihal are due to get Lankan
music fans rocking when they appear in Colombo, Kandy and Unawatuna
later this month. They will be here to coincide with the England
cricket tour to Sri Lanka, and are sponsored by the British High
Commission and the British Council.
