Hima Varusa covered in mystery

‘Hima Varusa’ (Snowy Rain), directed by Lakshman Pushpakumara is a miniplay woven around an affluent man with a mysterious past planning to be a politician.

The drama is being telecast every Wednesday at 7.00pm on Swarnavahini.
Niranjan Imbulegoda is a Chairman of a State Corporation. His young daughter Ranjee, studying in England returns to Sri Lanka with her artist boy friend Senith Wasalamudali.

They have decided to marry and Niranjan shows no objection at first but when he first sees his intended-son-in-law in person Niranjan refuses to give his approval for the marriage. Due to father’s objection Rangee falls ill and for the love of his daughter he decides to get them married.

But this was on a condition that they should go to London after their marriage. After the honeymoon, the newly wed couple goes to a mansion in Badulla belonging to Niranjan. At this mansion Senith encounters several occult incidents. He sees a beautiful young woman coming behind him. Senith comes to know that this was the ghost of Nirupa who died 20 years ago. Senith begins to find the identity of the woman. He enquires from Appuhamy -the old caretaker of the mansion.

Appuhamy narrates the story to Senith. Earlier the owner of this mansion was a tea estate owner named Galaboda. He had two daughters, Sudharma and Nirupa. Meeting with an accident their mother dies and Sudharma loses her legs and is confined to a wheelchair. Galaboda himself becomes paralysed and on the request of Galaboda, Niranjan an obedient servant of his marries the crippled Sudharma.

After their wedding Galaboda dies and Niranjan becomes the owner of the Tea Estate. After completion of her studies Nirupa too comes to live at the mansion of her sister’s family. There she falls in love with Oshan.

Meanwhile constant conflicts take place between crippled Sudharma and Niranjan. Sudharma suspects about an affair between Niranjan and Nirupa. At a picnic made to Dunhinda falls on one of her birthdays Sudharma meets with an accident and this causes her untimely death. Nirupa starts suspecting Niranjan for the death of her sister. Meantime Niranjan objects to the love affair of Nirupa. This she vehemently objects and Nirupa and Oshan decide to continue their affair.

‘Hima Varusa’ will take more dramatic turns as it continues.
The steller cast includes Sriyantha Mendis, Nilmini Tennekoon, Ruwanthi Mangala, Susantha Chandramali, Grace Ariyawimal, Nilanthi Dias, Sarath Kothalawala, Tissa Udangamuwa and Kumudini Adhikari.
