Lanka Bell and Suntel number changes
Lanka Bell and Suntel numbers were changed from Friday in order to keep on par with the 10-digit telephone number system introduced by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission.

Accordingly, the code number of Lanka Bell, which was 075 earlier, has been changed to 5. Lanka Bell subscribers have to include only the digit 5 in front of the existing number if they dial within the same subscriber area. If they need to dial a different area code from theirs, they have to add the particular SLT area code followed by the digit 5 and the existing phone number.

With regard to Suntel, the area code 074 changes to the digit 4. The subscribers have to follow a similar method as above where they have to dial only the digit 4 in front when they dial a number within the same subscriber area. If it is a different area code they have to use the SLT area code of the respective area in front followed by the digit 4 and the existing number.
