‘Paduru
Partiya’ from Sri Lanka Singers Association
A ‘Peduru Partiya’ organised by the Sri Lankan Singers
Association (SLSA) will come alive at the Club House of the NCC
Grounds on September 12 at 6.30 pm.
It is a well
known fact that Entertainment is one of the best ways of uniting
the different communities in our country and music is made use of
by the media in any commercial venture. Musicians (and singers)
have always offered their services free to the state, charitable
organizations, to the Armed Services, schools, in order to raise
funds for various projects.
Whenever there
has been a natural disaster singers and the music industry has always
come forward to highlight the suffering of the masses and to ensure
that proper steps are taken to assist those in need.
“Sri
Lankan Singers Association” has been formed to answer this
long felt need and to ensure that in future there will be an organization
that will see to their welfare and assist them whenever they need
a helping hand.
The Association
will also introduce basic standards and guidelines to the industry.
We have formulated an extensive plan to reorganize the industry,
which includes a Medical and Insurance Scheme, rest and recreation
facilities for outstation singers, loan schemes, an office for our
organization etc. and various other noteworthy ventures.
‘ We
have a dynamic President and an energetic organising committee.
However nothing is possible unless we make our organization strong
and financially stable.
It is at this
point that we need your encouragement and support to help us further
our aspirations. We have no doubt that once you have heard us you
will help us in various ways to make the future of our industry
secure.
In return we
assure you that our organization will always be of service to those
who have given us a helping hand in our hour of need.’ a spokesman
from the association said
