Drug menace on screen
The story ‘Sihina Thotupola’ revolves around a drug dealer operating from a village in the hill country and its effect on student life. Wickie a successful businessman who is a gangster too is involved in many shady deals but has evaded the law many times.

Wickie’s son Devinda is interested in Chalani, a pretty girl who hangs about with her fast-lane friends. Although her mother finds these friends objectionable she keeps silent. She knows that Chalani is trying to adjust her life style to forget her infirmity. Chalani has a serious heart ailment. The mother, daughter and the devoted servant are the occupants in this house. Then Nisal claiming to be a friend of a friend comes to live there.

Nisal has been appointed as the school’s physical training instructor. He is also a martial arts expert. Before long Nisal becomes a popular figure in the school. In addition the music teacher Nimmi and student Nimanthi show a special interest in him.

Chalani’s friends realisng that she has changed develops a hostility towards Nisal. When Nisal uncovers the drug network he acquires another enemy in Wickie Devinda too turns aggressive when he realizes that a friendship is growing between Chalani and Nisal. Some of the young men who work for Wickie are against Nisal who they consider as an outsider. Yet this volcanic situation is due to Nisal’s versatility as a fighter. Wickie in addition to drug dealing handles a foreign job agency as a cover for his shady activites.

All the ingredients needed for a dramatic situation are here. What will happen now? Will Chalani survive her illness? Who is Nisal? Who has been appointed to the school? Will Wickie the law-breaker successfully escape the law as he has been doing all these years.

Senaka Wijesinghe, Paboda Sandeepani, Kusum Renu, Buddi Wickrema, Samitha Mudunkotuwa, Renuka Perera, Namal Jayasinghe, Eardley Wedamuni, Wasanathi Gunaratne, Anjula Rajapakse and Prasannajith Abeysuriya are in the cast.
