1. Post of: Director, College of Journalism
Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelors degree and postgraduate qualifications in Humanities, Social Science, Business Management, Media Studies or related discipline(s). Excellent English language and communication skills.

A proven track record of at least 10 years of successful senior management positions in high-profile media institutions, training/academic establishments, non-profit organisations or the corporate sector.

Acknowledged stature within the profession. Excellent rapport with established media institutions and related professional organisations. The ability and vision to lead a small but efficient and professional team of academics and support staff in setting up the Sri Lanka College of Journalism as a centre of excellence in the region.

The ability to supervise and monitor the teaching staff of the SLCJ. The ability to establish and maintain affiliations with similar training and research institutions internationally.
Starting Salary : Rs. 80,000 per month


2. Post of: Lecturer in Sinhala
Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelors degree in Humanities, Social Science, Media Studies or related discipline in the Sinhala medium. Postgraduate qualification in Sinhala Language/Literature or a related field.

A minimum of 5 years teaching experience at the tertiary level, preferably in teaching Sinhala literary composition. Proven ability in teaching the writing skills of coherence, persuasiveness, organisation, economy, and editing/proof-reading.

Competence in English, and the ability to draw on students’ English language skills, for instance in enhancing their writing competence.. Ability to teach a diverse spectrum of students the basic elements of effective and accurate writing as appropriate to various genres within the profession of journalism.

Some hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas of print journalism in the English and/or Sinhala mass media: sub-editing, reporting, page layout, feature writing, would be a distinct advantage.
Starting Salary : Rs. 40,000 per month


3. Lecturer in Tamil
Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelors degree in Humanities, Social Science, Media Studies or related discipline in the Tamil medium. Postgraduate qualification in Tamil Language/Literature or a related field.

A minimum of 5 years teaching experience at the tertiary level, preferably in teaching Tamil literary composition. Proven ability in teaching the writing skills of coherence, persuasiveness, organisation, economy, and editing/proof-reading.
Competence in English, and the ability to draw on students’ English language skills, for instance in enhancing their writing competence.

Ability to teach a diverse spectrum of students the basic elements of effective and accurate writing as appropriate to various genres within the profession of journalism. 4. Lecturer in English
Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelors degree in Humanities, Social Science, Media Studies or related discipline in the English medium. Postgraduate qualification in English Language/Literature or a related field.

A minimum of 5 years teaching experience at the tertiary level, preferably in teaching English writing. Proven ability in teaching the writing skills of coherence, persuasiveness, organisation, economy, and editing/proof-reading.

Competence in Sinhala and/or Tamil, and the ability to draw on students’ first language skills, for instance in identifying/remedying common errors. Ability to teach a diverse spectrum of students the basic elements of effective and accurate writing as appropriate to various genres within the profession of journalism.

Ability to develop a comprehensive course in the English Language to Sinhala and Tamil medium students to enable them to follow lectures in their substantive subject areas in English.

Some hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas of print journalism in the English medium: sub-editing, reporting, page layout, feature writing, would be a distinct advantage.
Starting Salary : Rs. 40,000 per month
