Bring back the hangman

Politicians, particularly those who have become notorious for vote rigging and proudly project themselves as the village chandiyaas, will fight tooth and nail to prevent the re-imposition of the death penalty. They are supported by self-appointed moralists, pseudo social reformists, paid agents of the underworld and NGOs.

In the south, the crime rate is rising rapidly. Armed criminals, bandits, daylight burglars, contract killers, rapists and drug and human smugglers have a field day, while gun-toting LTTE terrorists in the north slay their opponents, kill soldiers with impunity, kidnap children for terrorist training and run a parallel government.

If the government cannot recall the hangman to deal with murderers who forfeit their own lives, the moment they take away the life of another, it should introduce legislation to hang corrupt politicians and others who shield criminals and promote lawlessness.
