Timely launch of LCCIEB in SL

Sri Lankans now have access to the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry examinations, says Fahmy Farook, Manager, LCCIEB Education and Examinations in Sri Lanka.

He said the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry is one of the oldest chambers of commerce in the world where its commencement dates back to more than 175 years. The examination body of this chamber, LCCIEB conducted its first examination in 1881. Today LCCIEB examinations are conducted in 87 countries around the world. More than 500,000 students sit for LCCIEB examinations every year.

LCCIEB offers more than 100 subjects under various disciplines. The exams include Accountancy, Management, Marketing, English Language, Information Technology E-commerce and Travel and Tourism.

Farook said it doesn't require any entry qualifications, is conducted at four levels so that a candidate can select the appropriate level according to his or her ability, and are conducted four times a year.

As far as the recognition part is concerned, since it is a widely popular and available set of examinations, many multinational companies and establishments use LCCIEB as their standard for recruitment. The Executive Diploma in Business Accounting (EDBA), which is available at level 4, gives one-year exemption from the degree programmes of 10 UK universities. In addition many professional bodies including CIMA, CIM, and ACCA. etc. also grant exemptions.

In Sri Lanka JMC- Jayasekera Management Centre (Pvt) Ltd has been appointed as the representative of the LCCIEB.
