‘Hatara Wate’ deals with routine events
‘Hatara Wate’ a comedy television serial is now telecast every Sunday at 7.00 pm on Swarnavahini . This delightfully funny TV serial portrays everyday people in awkward everyday situations.

The incidents revolve around the principle characters of Sakalasuriya a Government employee who tries to get away from everything, including his own work but tries to upstage his boss Palipane. Galapatti, the faithful colleague has to endure all this. In addition there is Vithane the peon who has secured his job by political means, to contend with.

At home Sakalasuriya’s wife Rita is helped by the domestic Romeo. The Provincial Council Member Warusawithane and his wife Manel and the nosey Galahitiyawa are caught up in the day-to-day living with the inescapable political fabric, around them.

The series is a funny mix of all these, aided no less with guest appearances by prominent TV artistes like Wijaya Nandasiri, Suminda Sirisena, Wilson Gunarathna, Menike Attanayake, Sadun Wijesiri, Sadda Uthpalakandage, Rathna Lalani Jayakodi, Sarath Chandrasiri, Susila Kottage and Hiran Chamikara.

The script is written by Kumara Siriwardena and Praveen Vidanagama and Chandra Vidanagama.


Arthur directs ‘Giniweluma’
Muhurath ceremony of the first directorial venture of journalist Arthur U. Amerasena was held with a large gathering including experts in the film and teledrama field in attendance recently.

A journalist with more than 40 years of experience Mr. Amerasena is also a talented scriptwriter and a producer who has a number of films and several teleplays to his credit. Widening his circle of artistic achievement Mr. Amerasena has already started work on his maiden direction titled “Gini Weluma”- Inferno.

The story as it unfolds on screen shows Minister Suduwatte’s son recovering from a by-pass surgery.He is grateful to Dr. Weerawickrema the specialist who successfully performed the crucial operation. Suddenly the child who was almost on the point of leaving the hospital falls ill and dies.

This is due to a germ infection The cause is not known and apparently Dr. Weerawickrema is not responsible. Yet Minister Suduwatte is demented and vows to take revenge on Dr. Weerawickrema who he thinks is responsible for his son’s death.

‘Gini Weluma’ aptly reveals the involvement that many have to suffer when Mr. Suduwatte tries to implement his vendetta on the Weerawickrema family…
The tele-drama is produced by South Bank production.

Director Arthur U. Amerasena says ‘Giniweluma’ being his directorial effort is limited to fifteen episodes and is scheduled to be shot in the locations around Colombo including Nawaloka hospital and the prison.

The cast includes veteran and popular artists such as Ravindra Randeniya, Sriyani Amerasena, Clitus Mendis, Vimal Alahakoon, Chathurika Peiris, Gamini Jayalath, Buddhi Keerthisena and many others.
