Blue Oceanic : Family friendly hotel
This week we step into the fourth segment of the “Take Another Look at Negombo” competition organised by TV Times in collaboration with Jetwing.

This week’s feature is Blue Oceanic Hotel, one of the popular resorts in Negombo. Blue Oceanic Beach Hotel, a Jetwing Hotel, is situated in a lush tropical garden set out in the vicinity of a golden stretch of the Negombo shoreline, with its dominant colours being blue and white.

Sing - Along with Cliff & FIH
A Sing- along Concert with Clifford Richards and ‘Friends in Harmony’ will be held at the BMICH on August 16 at 6.30pm. This Sing- along Concert is organised by Zonta Club of Colombo.

The successful Sing-along held in the past two years have spurred the Zontians to work towards the success of this year’s programme as well.Tickets are reasonably priced at Rs 350.00 and a free songbook comprising perennial favourites will be given to each person at the entrance.

Zonta Club of Colombo, affiliated to Zonta International which has its headquarters in Chicago, USA has several ongoing Community Service Programmes. Currently, the focus is on Methsevana, the Remand Refugee Home in Gangodawila, Nugegoda, where women and children are housed and Ward 18 of the National Cancer Institute in Maharagama.

Being committed to uplift the living standards of the inmates of the Remand Refugee Home and the patients of Ward 18 at the Cancer Institute, Zonta Club 1 is organizing this fund raiser, the proceeds of which will be channelled towards these two worthy causes.

Clifford Richards and Friends in Harmony are no strangers in the entertainment scene and one can be assured of an enjoyable evening singing one’s cares away.


Drive with Stuart on Gold FM
From July 1, Gold FM, Sri Lanka’s favourite oldies station, took on a new host on the evening drive times show.

Stuart”.... A Radio Presenter with a broad based knowledge in presenting ‘oldies music’ has been in the business for a good six years with some well known radio channels in Sri Lanka, before joining the ABC Radio Network. His experience has taken him through radio shows from morning drivetimes to late evening shows as well. Stuart taking over the controls on Gold FM’s evening drivetime show, ‘Drive-me-Crazy’ keeps the Gold FM fans delighted with his pleasing voice and bright and cheerful presentation.

Stuart has already been well received by the ardent Gold FM fans and is on the airwaves between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., Monday to Friday. Make sure you catch him between these times, for your dedications and interesting stories, artiste information, news and views from the local, international, business and sports arenas, light humour and a whole lot more in the tightly packed 3-hour show.
Gold FM, one of the the most popular channels when it comes to ‘oldies’ music has been playing the best music from the early 60s to the late 80s. Recent surveys have confirmed that Gold FM has a market share of 86% with a reach of 88% which undoubtedly speaks for itself.

Gold FM caters to a wide variety of audiences from the ages of 25 upwards. Recently, coverage has been strengthened on 90.9 fm to Trincomalee, Anuradhapura, Mannar, Polonnaruwa and Vavuniya.


‘Next Blu’ : Newest attraction
‘Next Blu’, the first ever night club at the Austasia Leisure Club opened its doors to the public on July 18. The opening of ‘Next Blu’ went off with a bang. With a crowd of of over 200 people and a continuous flow of guests throughout the night, the Next Blu because the hip & happening place to be definitely.

The launch, which took place on Friday July 18, attracted not only the local crowds but also party-goers from far a field with nationals of Africa, America, Europe and Australia joining in the fun. Being a unique concept in Thalawathugoda, the Next Blu is sure to catch on.

DJ Mix Masters entertained the guests with a variety of music including the latest R&B & Hip Hop hits and kept the dance floor buzzing till the early hours of the morning.

The Next Blue will be entertaining the crowds every Friday night.
For those who didn’t want to put their dance shoes on, there was ample space to relax and enjoy a chat with friends and a drink from the well stocked bar, served by efficient and courteous bar staff.

Not wanting to miss out on the fun, club members and guests such as National Cricketer, Romesh Kaluwitharana and the Sri Lankan Indoor Cricket National Squad were present, whilst the Chairman of Austasia, Cedric Anthony flew in all the way from Australia to witness the grand opening.

“It was always my plan to bring what we enjoy in Australia after a busy week at work, closer to home. To relax in a nightclub whilst enjoying all the facilities that the City Clubs offer: the best music, best prices and in addition the friendly atmosphere” said Mr. Anthony.

The Next Blu will be entertaining the crowds every Friday night, with plans of live band performances as a regular feature in time to come. There is a complimentary drink for ladies. Visitors to the Austasia Club can enjoy the club facilities such as a relaxing evening at the Pool Parlour or a meal at the Mitsies Restaurant before it transforms itself into the Next Blu at 12 midnight.
