Like the LTTE, reds too could make demands
Tilvin Sahodaraya, Wimal Sahodaraya and many other red sahodarayas were gathered for a discussion. Their topic was the proposed merger with the Blues…
"I think we are being taken for a ride…"

"Why do you say that?"
"This is worse than the Greens talking to the Tigers. We talk so much but nothing has really happened…"
"So, what do you think we should do?"

"Maybe we should start making unreasonable demands, just like the Tigers…"
"And what would those demands be?"
"To start with, I don't think we should visit President's House for discussions…"
"But how would we meet, then?"

"Why, we can ask their leaders to visit us at our headquarters. They can use their helicopters if they want…"

"And, every once in a while, it would be a good idea to refuse to see someone; it will scare them and make them think that we are really important…"
"That tactic has certainly worked for the Tigers…"

"Then, maybe we should demand that they need to contact Somawansa sahodaraya more often…"
"But how can they do that? Do you want him to return?"

"No, of course not. But they can send their leaders to London every now and then for discussions with him just like the Greens do with Bala…"
"Then, maybe we should also start making more specific requests…"
"And what would these requests be?"

"We could ask for an interim administration, couldn't we?"
"After all, the experts are saying it is not unconstitutional…"

"So, maybe we could ask to administer the Southern Province and the Uva Province…"
"And that would have the advantage of neutralizing Nimal as well…"
"I think we should ask for more…"

"Why do you say that?"
"Why, the Tigers are still officially terrorists in many countries and struggling to get recognition and they are being offered an interim administration. We are a recognized party now, so we should be able to ask for more…"

"What do you propose we ask for?"
"Maybe we should ask for the Premiership…"
"Do you think Satellite will agree to that?"
"I think she would be rather pleased to give us that job…"

"Why would she do that?"
"Why, if they take the job themselves they would have to decide between the Crown Prince and the Southerner. They didn't want to do that even at the convention. So, we would be doing them a favour, really…"

"And what about all our cadres?"
"Maybe we could ask for recognition for them as well like the Tigers asked for recognition for the Sea Tigers…"
"Yes, maybe we could ask for a Red Police, for instance…"

"There is a small problem in all this though…"
"And what is that?"
"We will be asking for all this assuming that we are able to topple the Greens when we get together with the Blues…"

"But do you think the Greens will just allow us to do that?"
"At the moment, there is only one way they will allow that?"
"And what is that?""

"If the Tigers make that one of their demands…"
No one disagreed with that idea.
