ITI workshop on fruit and vegetable products

The Agro and Food Technology Division of the Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) will conduct a two-day training workshop on fruit and vegetable products on July 10 and 11 at the ITI Auditorium. This is being organized due to several requests from ITI clients.

The programme will include lectures and practical demonstrations by a panel of qualified staff of the Food Product Development Group of the Agro and Food Technology Division and is for small and medium scale manufacturers of jams, sauces and chutneys as well as potential entrepreneurs and school leavers who are hopeful of commencing their own business, ITI said in a press release.

The lectures will cover topics such as fruit and vegetable preservation, quality control, machinery, standards and regulations, food hygiene and sanitation, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP). The programme that will be conducted in Sinhala will cater to about 30 participants with each participant being awarded a certificate at the end of the programme.
