Chris Obeysekera gets rare HRD honour

The Suntel Lifetime Award Gold Medal for excellence in the field of Human Resource was awarded to U.A.C. Obeysekera, Deputy General Manager (Human Resource and Administration), Hatton National Bank Ltd at last month's annual Human Resource Service Personnel Convention held at the BMICH.

Obeysekera is one of the most outstanding personalities in the HR management field with over 32 years of active involvement in various capacities in different organisation. He has been a leading resource person in HR management education at the Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) for over 20 years and has also functioned as a visiting lecturer in several prestigious institutions.

His most significant contribution to the IPM was the construction of its own Secretariat, a project he initiated against very difficult odds and successfully completed in 2001.

Obeysekera was also accorded a rare honour in 2002, when he, as the Sri Lankan nominee, emerged as one of the six finalists for the prestigious Georges Petipas International Memorial Award conferred by the World Federation of Human Resource Management Association.
