Stock prices soar

Colombo stock prices hit an eight-year high last Friday as investors remained upbeat over large contributions of foreign aid and record corporate results, despite setbacks in the peace process.

Brokers said the unprecedented boom on the Colombo Stock Exchange is at least partly driven by an influx of black money.

The All Share Price Index broke through the 1,000-point barrier for the first time in eight years.
