CMC raiding food outlets
The Colombo Municipal Council has sent out its public health inspectors to arrest traders who unscrupulously sell outdated food stuff along with fresh foods during the festive season.

The CMC action comes in the wake of detection made at a leading Colombo supermarket where outdated food items had been stacked together with fresh ones.

CMC officials said the health inspectors had been ordered to conduct surprise raids, including night raids, on supermarkets and food outlets to ensure that customers were not harmed.

The TNA has decided to meet the PA and the JVP to urge the two parties to support the proposal.

TULF General Secretary R. Sampandan told The Sunday Times that for decades the Tamil parties had proposed a federal system for the devolution of power and now the first step had been taken towards it.

He said the TNA would do its best to persuade the PA especially and the JVP to accept the solution.
