They say that music brings magic into our lives and helps us to connect no matter what our differences are. This is what the Interact Club of Visakha Vidyalaya is all ready to prove through 'Muse'.

'Muse' brings together the talented students of seven schools for an evening of music. This will be the second phase of the Visakhians' finance project Mosaic, the first being Masquerade, a fusion of plays.

The Interactors from Royal College, St. Joseph's College, Colombo International School, S. Thomas' College, St. Paul's Milagiriya and D. S. Senanayake College will join hands with the Visakhians in putting on this show.

'Muse', the organising committee promises will be an enjoyable evening with a variety of songs and a dance item, which will be a mixture of western, eastern and bharatha. The Interactors of Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo International School and St. Paul's Milagiriya will perform this item.

Performances by the western and the eastern bands of Visakha Vidyalaya, the Hewisi band of S. Thomas' College and Soul Skinners - a band of students from S. Thomas' College are some of the highlights of the evening.

"One of our main aims apart from raising funds was to give all Interactors the opportunities to improve their organisational skills and the necessary exposure to enhance their creativity," Project Chairperson Denushika Karunathilake said. The project has also helped them to build friendships with Interactors from other schools, she added.

"The committee has made a lot of sacrifices in the past few weeks and it is clear that they feel what they do is worthwhile. It is after all for a good cause and it has definitely been a learning experience for them," says Ms Ranmini Gunawardena, the staff advisor of the Interact club of Visakha Vidyalaya.

'Muse' promises to be a concert with a difference that caters to varied tastes.

A part of the proceeds of this fund raiser will go to the Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital and the Pelmadulla Drug Rehabilitation Centre. The rest of the proceeds will be used to finance several school and community service projects planned by the Interact Club of Visakha Vidyalaya.

We might not all understand the different types, styles and forms of music. But as the committee points out, you do not necessarily have to understand music to enjoy it. Then you suddenly realise what 'Muse' is all about.
